MEREDALE – A gruesome discovery was made by a pastor and church members when they went to an open field in Meredale to hold a service on October 11.
Mondeor SAPS Communications Officer, Constable Sibongile Mnguni reported that a decomposed body was found by the group.
It is suspected that the body may have been there for some time as the flesh had already deteriorated and only a skeleton was left as evidence of foul play.
Mondeor Police officers were called to the scene where they collected the body for DNA examination. It is currently undetermined whether the victim was male or female, or the cause of death.
An inquest has been opened and Mondeor Police are still investigating. The family of the victim is still unknown and therefore have not been notified.
