Successful Uncle’s Day

The first annual Uncle's Day was successfully executed on Sunday September 14 at Ubuntu Kraal and nephews and nieces came in numbers to pay tributes to the uncles of the South.

SOWETO –  It was a real family affair event that attracted the young and old from as far as the North West, Mpumalanga and Freestate.

“Truth be told, we weren’t raised by just our parents alone; there was plenty of outside influence along the way. We have a special pillar of relative in that of an uncle, we celebrate our uncles for the significant impact they have had on our lives,” said Terry Mokoena.

Tina Makupu who was accompanied by her son, daughters and grandchild from Ekurhuleni Katlehong was over the moon to be part of Uncle’s Day, she said, “I didn’t know how to celebrate my uncle who raised me to be the woman that I am today, but now I found a platform to celebrate him. This is the day I will ever cherish.”

Not forgetting our main man, Dj Moss-H and our special guest, Thami Jantjie who made headlines last year when he was a sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela Memorial service at FNB stadium.
