Da Silva to compete in World Elite Triathlon Grand Final

Dylan has recently been invited to compete in the TransCanada Corp. World Elite Triathlon Grand Final to represent South Africa at the end of August.

“ANYONE who has met Dylan da Silva will know his outlook on life and determination is infectious, and one can only be inspired by his wise words, ‘You can’t be a couch potato. God has put you here for a reason; find that reason and do it.'”

Dylan was born with a disability to his arms, Phocamelia (he doesn’t have complete arms and hands). This has never stopped him from living his life to the fullest and achieving great things. God has blessed him with amazing talent in swimming, cycling and running, and he is most definitely using every opportunity he is given.

Dylan, a 19-year-old athlete, is well known in Mondeor, not only for all his sporting achievements, but also as an active Sector 2 CPF patroller. “I am contributing to keeping crime low to make my area a better environment, so hopefully one day my children will be able to ride their bicycles and play soccer in the parks without being mugged or attacked,” Dylan said.

Another great achievement recently added to Dylan’s bucket list, was that he summited Mount Kilimanjaro in February this year with the ParaAwesomes, a group of disabled people’. However, his ultimate goal has always been to compete in the 2016 Paralympics.

Dylan has recently been invited to compete in the TransCanada Corp. World Elite Triathlon Grand Final to represent South Africa, which takes place at the end of August. This comes after competing in the Central Gauteng Triathlon Championships, South African National Triathlon Championships and All Africa Championships, where he won gold for both events. Dylan competes in the PT3 category. The only setback is that Dylan has to raise his own funds in order to compete in Canada. We are calling on the community to assist Dylan with donations or sponsorship as this young man is destined for big things to come.
