Bassonia family held at gunpoint

A Bassonia family was held at gunpoint on Friday night June 20 at around in their Jeanine Street home.

BASSONIA – Five armed with two handguns and a shotgun in a silver two door hatch held the family at gunpoint tying up a younger member of the family and taking off with a lot of valuables.

Glenvista Community Policing Forum (CPF), posted on their facebook page, “One suspect was dropped off on foot about 10 minutes before the robbery and entry was gained by three more suspects as a member of the household was arriving home.

“The fifth suspect remained in the vehicle and drove up and down the street a number of times before picking up his accomplices.

“We have offered the family counselling and hope to have an image of the suspect vehicle soon.”

Glenvista CPF warned, “Armed robbers have realised that parking in front of a residence where they don’t belong for any extended period of time is likely to arouse suspicion and so drive around the area instead.

“Professional criminals avoid using cell phones to avoid being placed at a scene so the pick-up vehicle may drive past the target a number of times while the robbery is in progress waiting for the accomplices to come out.”

Information sourced from Glenvista CPF’s facebook page, the CHRONICLE will investigate the matter further.
