Manny de Freitas re-elected to Parliament

In 2012 he was appointed as Shadow Minister of Home Affairs.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The Democratic Alliance enjoyed a resounding election victory and grew 38,89 per cent, gaining 1,14 million additional votes. No other opposition party in South Africa has ever been able to obtain over four million votes.

With this victory comes the return of Manny de Freitas to Parliament. He was first elected to Parliament in 2009, when he was appointed Deputy Shadow Minister of Transport. In 2012 he was appointed as Shadow Minister of Home Affairs. Before being elected to Parliament, he served in local government in the City of Johannesburg and in the Provincial Legislature.

“I feel most humbled to be returned to Parliament,” De Freitas said. Manny de Freitas said that he hoped to continue making a contribution to change South Africa and to continue his work in solidifying our democracy.
