Learners go through to stage two of Woolworths Educational Programme

Two Grade 11 design learners, Raquel Ferreira and Kaylee Gottscho, from Marist Brothers Linmeyer, have successfully made it to Stage two of the regional final stage, of The Woolworths Educational Programme.

LINMEYER – The programme is, “2014 Making the Difference Through Design – Your Design can change the world competition”.

This competition is open to high school learners from all over the country. Entrants are required to come up with innovative solutions to the design brief, which this year, is to create a uniquely African solution to a global problem.

These two young and passionate designers are now going to create full product prototypes of their campaigns and design ideas, for presentation at the regionals. If selected as a winner in the regional exhibition, their work will go on to be judged nationally in Stage three. The overall winner of the national finals will have their work exhibited at the Design Indaba 2015 in Cape Town.

The Design educator at Marist Brother’s Linmeyer, Mrs Lorna Bellagarda, is immensely proud of their achievements and said, “this, once again, proves that design really can change the world and transform lives!“
