Opportunity of a lifetime

A clinic was held for young soccer players in the u.15 and u.17 age groups.

ALTOGETHER 26 talented players from the greater eMalahleni region joined the Black Aces Academy on Thursday April 3 at an intense three-day coaching clinic being held by the Manchester City School of Football.

Aces legends ‘Junior’ and ‘Dumi’ Ngobe were asked to select group of highly talented u.15 and u.17 footballers from various schools within their area to take part in these clinics. Most of these boys have never had such an opportunity and the excitement was visable. Each team was made up of boys that were selected from the Danone Cup regional tournaments, which are taking place at the moment.

Mario Morfou, Mpumalanga Black Aces co-chairman and CEO said, “It’s important for Black Aces to develop grassroot-level football in our areas, especially if we want to climb to be the number one team in the country. We have taking so much out of our partnership with MCFC and hope to grow this beautiful game.”

The clinics kicked off on Monday and end on Sunday, when the boys will also get the opportunity to meet the Black Aces first team plus Coach Clive Barker.

These clinics are designed to not only teach the boys ball skills, but also the importance of structure and teamwork to becoming a professional footballer.

The MCFC coaching team consisted of Jonny Marsh, Chris McCarthy, Alan Dixon, Lewis Childs and Simon Hewitt and see Andy Smith (title) lead the group.
