Diamonds are forever – Budler seeking diamond ring

Budler will be defending his IBO title for the fifth time to capture the diamond ring.

Hekkie Budler will not only be fighting for pride but will be out chasing his dreams to capture the IBO diamond ring.

The African Explosion boxing tournament will take place this Saturday March 1 at Emperors Palace presented by Golden Gloves Promotions in conjunction with Emperor’s Palace.

Fighting starts at 19:00

Budler’s work is threefold on the evening, when three title fights feature on the bill. The diminutive boxer has to defend his newly attained WBA straw weight title the first time and he has to put in the biggest brawl of his life to defend his IBO title for the fifth time. Budler will take on challenger Karluis Diaz from Columbia, who is the number five contender in this division.

If he manages all of this he is liable to receive the prestigious IBO diamond ring for five successful defences of the title.

Quite a strenuous work load for the number one rated boxer by Ring Magazine’s tiny boxer in South Africa.

“This is the most important fight for us up to date and we prepared well,” said trainer Colin Nathan, “The two weeks extension that we recieved because the date changed gave us extra time to up our skills.”

“I saw some of his flights and he is a good boxer, but I want to get in the ring and do my job,” said Budler.

In the meantime another two of the Hot Box stable mates will feature on the bill. Ryno Liebenberg will fight for the WBC International light heavy weight title against Joey Vegas and Adam de Moor will climb in the ring against Jeff Otembio in the junior welter weight division contest.

Johnny Muller will come up against Wilberforce Shihepo from Namibia for the WBC Silver International light heavy weight title.

To open the bill Ricardo Hiraman will face Phumudzo Monyai in the featherweight division, and in the junior flyweight will be Sibusiso Twani vs Thabang Ramagole.
