Marist Brothers congratulates 2013 Matriculants

Marist Brothers School in Linmeyer had 109 candidates who wrote the IEB National Examinations at the end of 2013.

A notable 99.1% pass rate was achieved with 87 students passing their exams with a Bachelor Degree level. Only one pupil who unfortunately was too ill will write a supplementary exam.

Eight distinctions were achieved by two pupils, seven distinctions achieved by two pupils, six distinctions attained by six pupils, five distinctions attained by three pupils and four distinctions attained by four pupils.

68 percent of Marist Brothers learners wrote Core Mathematics compared to the previous 64 percent, as the IEB average for other Independent Schools. 35 percent of learners achieved an overall average of 70 percent or higher.

“Four of our students were placed in the top one percent in IEB in South Africa for the following subjects: Business Studies: Cindy Makita, Storm Warmback. Life Sciences: Bianca Dias, Charissa Chengalroyen. Physical Sciences: Bianca Dias. Well done,” said Marist Brothers Principal, Mr Norman.

Marist Brothers pupils who achieved four or more distinctions and averages of 80 percent and above are: Cindy Makita with eight distinctions, Monique Marques seven distinctions, Joel Oommen seven distinctions, Susan Abraham six distinctions, Natalie Pallini six distinctions, Dario Neto six distinctions, Trystan Wragg six distinctions and Sable Leicher achieved six distinctions.

Other top achieving learners included Rheshim Kuverjee with six distinctions, Uveshnie Naidoo five distinctions, Carmen Sing five distinctions, Kevin Kumasamba five distinctions, Jessica Frew four distinctions, Daniela Barletta four distinctions, Lily Stabell four distinctions and Christel Kola four distinctions.
