Looking back over the year 2013

July came with its own ups and downs, here's a look back at everything that went down.

July

*Cat has his claws ripped out. Over the weekend of June 22 to 24 a Glenvista resident’s cat had its back claws completely ripped out.

*Learning how to save a life. Netcare Union and Netcare Clinton Hospitals held a CPR Family and Friends Course last week and invited media to come along and learn how to administer CPR.

*R12 million abalone find in Bassonia. Two Chinese suspects aged 35 years old were arrested by Johannesburg K9 and Organised Crime in Bassonia Rock, Bassonia on Wednesday July 3, for storing abalone in a house in the estate.

*Mountain biking for charity. Mountain bikers from all overs Johannesburg gathered at Thaba Trails June 29, this time for a six hour endurance race.

*Double header on doorstep. Who says that rugby and soccer do not mix? The first ever double-header will take place on our doorstep on Saturday August 17 at FNB Stadium.

*R59 tunnel bridge traffic woes. The tedious exercise of motorists slowly making their way through a long line of traffic in the R59 tunnel which leads to the N12 and has been under construction allegedly since December last year, has motorists at their wits end.

*Boccia Champ competes overseas. “The sport will always be a big part of my life and no one can take that from me,” said 21-year-old Liaketh Aziz who will be flying the South African flag on high at the 2013 Boccia Americas Cup tournament in Kansas City, USA.

*Happy birthday Madiba. The learners had sung happy birthday to Madiba, they released their balloons.
