Touching hearts at gala evening

A wonderful evening to raise money for St Mary's Children's Home.

THABA YA BATSWANA: A gala evening for St Mary’s Children’s Home was held at Thaba Ya Batswana on Wednesday October 30. Organised jointly by Toni Mackrell (Woman@Work) and Sonja Harmse (director of St Mary’s), the evening proved a huge success.

Some of the children from St Mary’s entertained the guests with song and dance and Elvis, alias Charl van Tonder, had everyone’s feet tapping to his
repertoire of the “king’s” hits.
It was an evening of fun and laughter and in the process money was raised to help keep the home afloat.
“Special thanks must go to BBM Attorneys and Irene Botha for their sponsorships, which will enable a talented young lady from St Mary’s to fulfil her dream, as well as to Senny van Den Oever (Micro Eletrica) for his very generous donation in buying an Angel. Thank you too, to everyone who bought Angels and to all the wonderful people who supported this worthwhile cause,” said Sonja.

“Without people like you St Mary’s Children’s Home wouldn’t be able to offer what it does to the 53 children who live here,” added Sonja.
As Toni Mackrell gave her thanks it wasn’t hard to see how emotional she was. “Excuse me if I shed a few tears. The children at St Mary’s Children’s Home are very special to me and assisting to organise this gala evening has been an absolute privilege.”
The Angels each represent a child at St Mary’s and if you would like to buy an Angel or are able to offer any other assistance, please contact Sonja Harmse 011 435 3820 or 083 267 3515, alternatively e-mail: Sonja@smch.co.za
