Cape racing to start over the weekend.

KENILWORTH – Kenilworth racecourse is the place to be on Saturday October 26 when the Elusive Fort Cape Classic race day kicks off the much anticipated Summer of Champions, Western Cape Summer Season for 2013/2014.

It’s going to be an action packed day at the track with top quality racing among a wide array of track-side activities tailored to every desire.

A full race card includes the highly contested feature race, the Grade 3 R200 000 Elusive Fort Cape Classic, a race for three-year-olds and seen by many as an important preparation race for the upcoming majors of the season.

It’s going to be a great day out for the whole family with an arts and craft market, free kiddies entertainment, including goal posts on course and the tab soccer players will be interacting with the kids displaying soccer skills driven by the Soccer 13 promotion to keep everyone busy between the adrenalin surges of the racing action.

Following the last race will be an entertaining Jockeys’ Race whereby 15 jockeys will put their best foot forward in a running race for a charitable cause.

Everyone is encouraged to get involved in the action and support the jockey of their choice by simply filling out an entry form and including a donation.

All donations will go to the Cape Town Child Welfare Society which works to ensure the survival, protection and development of vulnerable and deprived children.

Last year alone the Society placed 260 children in foster homes and conducted 6 553 risk assessments of individuals.

It’s the oldest child welfare organisation in South Africa and relies heavily on donations.

The Jockeys’ Race will be run after the last horse race and a lucky draw will take place for all who backed the winning jockey with the winner to receive the grand prize of two SNooZA’s ‘It’s a bed…IN an Ottoman’ to the value of R5 000.
