Southside Stormers triumphant spree continues

They attribute their success to hard work and community support.

In a thrilling display of talent and determination at Kathlehong Huntersfield stadium, the Southside Stormers U16 boys and girls teams clinched victory at the Kathlehong annual basketball tournament on October 5.

They were competing against over 10 elite clubs from across Johannesburg. The tournament showcased some of the finest young basketball talent in the region, but it was the Stormers who emerged victorious, adding another trophy to their growing collection.

Nathy Madubaduba, founder and coach of the Southside Stormers, expressed pride in his teams’ achievements. “This is one of the proudest moments for our club this year,” he stated.

“The hard work put in during practice sessions has truly paid off. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the parents for their unwavering support from the beginning until now. This is our fifth silverware in the space of a year, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of everyone involved.”

The Stormers exhibited remarkable resilience, passion, and teamwork throughout the tournament. Their performance was not just about winning; it was a testament to the dedication and skill they have honed over countless hours of practice.

The club also took a moment to thank the Katlehong Raptors Basketball Club for organising the event, as well as all other teams that participated, acknowledging the competitive spirit that made the tournament memorable.

The club also congratulated Emmua Edujie, who was awarded the trophy as the U16 girls most valuable player of the tournament and also Mike Shango, who was the most valuable player for U16 boys.

“We are proud of these young stars and we will be working tirelessly to make their dreams come true and the club as a whole,” noted Madubaduba.

As the Southside Stormers continue to rise in the ranks of youth basketball, their latest victory serves as a reminder of the power of hard work and community support in achieving greatness on and off the court.
