Learners job shadow to raise funds and gain experience
The learners found the experience to be both enjoyable and educational.
On August 14, grades six, seven and eight learners from Pam’s Academy participated in a job shadow evening at Spur Columbine Square in Suideroord.
The learners were each assigned a waiter or waitress who then taught them how to be friendly to the customers, take food orders, serve the meals, clean the tables and overall ensure their customer’s evening was delightful.
This not only raises funds for the school but also forms part of the entrepreneurship requirements for their syllabus. It also helps the learners to experience what a job entails and the type of job that could be an option in their future.
The restaurant welcomed families from Pam’s Academy from all grades and the turnout was fantastic.
The school would like to thank Spur Columbine Square for giving their learners an amazing opportunity. “The staff were professional and friendly and the food was delicious,” said a representative from Pam’s Academy.
