Sunridge Play School learners cast their votes

It was an educational and fun experience for the learners participating in their own voting process.

The learners of Sunridge Play School in Ridgeway made their mark on May 28.

With the national elections taking place, the play school allowed its learners to run for president of the school. It was a two-week process, where potential candidates (learners) had to come up with a party name and a campaign and deliver a party manifesto to their constituency.

The school believes it is crucial to teach the learners through interaction, and what better way than to experience the voting process first-hand?

All voters, aged three to six, received an ID card and a ballot paper of their 12 candidates. The Sunridge Electoral Commission (SEC), comprising the ladies who form part of the school staff, co-ordinated and assisted in the process.
