OPWC spreads joy and warmth by giving back to the community

Ordinary People Who Care recently embarked on a heartfelt mission, bringing nourishment and festive cheer to 140 children and 60 to 70 homeless individuals.

Ordinary People Who Care (OPWC) recently undertook a generous initiative, reaching out to approximately 140 children and 60 to 70 homeless individuals in a remarkable effort to provide nourishment and festive cheer.

Monica Smith, from OPWC, expressed her gratitude for the invaluable support from Macsteel, the organization’s main sponsor for the event.

“Their generous contribution not only facilitated the distribution of treats to the gathered crowd but also enabled OPWC to extend a helping hand to 10 deserving Bellavista families with Christmas hampers.

“Macsteel’s commitment to community welfare has been instrumental in making this event possible. Their sponsorship has allowed us to touch the lives of many, bringing joy and sustenance to those who need it most,” Smith remarked.

Smith emphasized that the support received went beyond Macsteel, as local businesses played a significant role in making a positive impact.

“Arries Baking Supplies, recognizing the importance of a hearty meal, generously donated 100 hotdog rolls. Tip Top Butchery contributed 9 kilograms of Vienna sausages, ensuring a fulfilling and satisfying experience for those in attendance.

“Adding a touch of variety and delight to the donated goodies, Opening Doors Charity, led by Pastor Malcolm, provided packed NikNaks and biscuits.

“During the event, representatives from Macsteel, including Adriaan Kruger, Bernice Hanekamp, and Mia Kotze, were present to witness the positive impact of their sponsorship. Their presence underscored the shared commitment to making a difference in the lives of those facing adversity.

Monica Smith summed up the collective effort: “From the bottom of our hearts, we express our gratitude to Macsteel, Arries Baking Supplies, Tip Top Butchery, and Opening Doors Charity. With your support, we created moments of joy and warmth, reminding everyone that, indeed, ordinary people who care can make an extraordinary impact.”
