Medical Wellness Day a success at Annie Burger Retirement Village

More than 180 Annie Burger Retirement Village residents received medical care from local health entities. The day was beautiful as resident engaged with various stakeholders.

Over 180 senior residents at the Annie Burger Retirement Village received medical care through the Medical Wellness Day hosted by a variety of stakeholders.

The day began with seniors sharing a light breakfast in the Friendship Garden, sponsored by a senior caregiver at Meals on Wheels, Christine Crossley.

In collaboration with Care Network International CEO Joseph Periah, and managing director Jeniffer Samson, a team of medical practitioners was brought in to give free primary healthcare services to the residents.

Their consultations covered tests for diabetes and high blood pressure, HIV, wound care, vision examinations with the provision of glasses, dental care, and other conditions, along with the supply of medication.

According to the initiative coordinator, David Sumadraji, the seniors had the chance to talk with a biblical counsellor for prayer and spiritual support. Following consultations, Baboo’s Crew provided the residents with a delicious lunch.

“The Medical Wellness Day was a huge success, made possible by the invaluable support of the various organisations. The organisers would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the enormous help received,” he said.

“This event would not have been made possible without the care and compassion of the sponsors,” Sumadraji concluded.
