DJ Rix creates fun and safe party platforms for the youth

The platform is a great, safe space for the young to enjoy music and break away from adolescent stresses.

By day he is in the construction industry and at night or on weekends he is a DJ.

Ricardo Rebelo, aka DJ Rix (34), DJs at corporate and private functions, clubs and festivals.

Rebelo and his father, Luis, own a construction company, Estoril Project, but it does not stop there for Rebelo. He specialises in entertaining and not only does he build houses, he also builds businesses.

He is the proud owner of an events company called Just 4 Music where they help bring more feet through the doors of struggling venues. He also owns Medi Love, a company that caters to everything Mediterranean by hosting events and festivals.

“I enjoy creating new experiences for people and I believe doing events and hosting parties should be an experience for people, not just showing up and being there,” emphasised Rebelo.

Getting into construction and entertainment

“My grandfather was in the construction industry and I remember when I was a little boy I would sometimes go with him to work. I would always play around with the toy tools.

“My father was also in the construction industry and at the age of 16, every time I would go with my grandfather and father I would mess around with the machines such as the Bobcat. One day they asked for my help and so I fell in love with it.”

Rebelo highlighted that his passion for music has always been a part of him. At the time when he discovered his passion for construction, his father opened a restaurant.

Rebelo saw this as an opportunity to try out being a DJ. “During my teenage years, I came into contact with a lot of people from the radio who would visit the restaurant. I was recommended to an institution where I learned to play and I started playing on vinyl, which is the old-school way,” said Rebelo.

After learning to play, DJ Rix started playing at parties, school functions, and family parties for the fun of it. At the age of 20, he got his first club break. “Once I got into the club industry I never looked back, it’s just a different world. I branched out into corporate gigs and festivals.”

The U18 platform

DJ Rix and his business partners have ventured into creating fun and safe events for children under the age of 18.

“These events are an attempt to bring back the culture of U18 clubs as in the old days. We want children to party in a safe environment and their parents to enjoy being worry-free,” highlighted Rebelo.

“When children become adolescents they outgrow the fun of playing with toys and seek other adventures such as socialising with friends. Our events allow adolescents to socialise and just have fun.

“Music is a universal language and it brings people together. We present a platform which prohibits the consumption of any substances by anyone under the age of 18.

“It keeps the young entertained while teaching them responsibility and developing their social skills.

Helping better his community

The Just 4 Music brand has attracted many young people to come on board.

“Every month we have two young people from the community join us when hosting events. As a DJ, I assist them with a platform to play and if their skill is not perfected I help them refine their skills,” said Rebelo.

Holding fundraisers by providing sound systems for school events is a big part of who he is and his brand.
