No metro police vacancies are currently available in the City of Johannesburg

JMPD warns the public not to fall victim to fake advertisements that are aimed at exploiting job seekers.

The City of Johannesburg does not have any metro police vacancies available.

There is currently a JMPD pamphlet doing rounds on social media which has the requirements needed for one to be a metro police officer with the heading, ‘Do you have what it takes’.

The JMPD can confirm that the pamphlet is legitimate and it is used by the department’s communications and community outreach units to advise the public on the essential requirements needed for those interested in being officers, but nowhere on the pamphlet does it state that JMPD is currently recruiting.

The City of Johannesburg and the department advertise vacancies and internships through official platforms, such as the city’s official website, official departmental social media platforms, and mainstream newspapers.

Members of the public are advised to verify adverts by logging on to the city’s website.

The public is also warned not to fall victim to fake advertisements that are aimed at exploiting job seekers.
