Nomsa Mophuting of Kibler Park is a semi-finalist for Mrs South Africa 2022.

When informed that she had made it to the semi-finals, the 38-year-old mother and wife expressed her delight.

Mophuting said she entered the Mrs South Africa pageant because she believed it would be a life-changing experience for her and the people around her who look up to her for motivation and inspiration.

“I thought this platform would help me fulfil my purpose to be the best version of myself. Furthermore, I wanted to be a voice for change and present myself as the strong, powerful woman I am.

“As a semi-finalist, my duties include participating in charity organisations and community projects, obtaining a silver sponsorship for my journey, selling tickets for Mrs South Africa events, and involvement in marketing for Mrs South Africa’s official sponsors,” explained Mophuting.

Mophuting said she realised pageantry was her passion when she was 12.

“I lived in a small township in Soweto called Tladi and taught girls and boys to model every day. I even solicited donations to support our events because I believed modelling kept children in my community busy and off the streets.

“Never in my life did I imagine myself as a semi-finalist in a pageant, let alone Mrs South Africa, because growing up, I always looked down on myself, thought I was not beautiful, and needed validation from others.

“Things changed in 2010 when I embarked on a journey of self-discovery. I began to love myself and the woman I had become. I began to recognise that I was beautiful on the inside and out. From then on, I became unstoppable, pursuing all of my dreams without anyone’s approval, and competing in a pageant was one of those dreams.”

Mophuting went on to say that she wants to help the community by providing assistance and emotional support to survivors of GBV and rape.

“I understand what it is like to be a survivor and not receive the necessary support.

“In my community, I want to groom, inspire, coach, and help girls and women. This includes taking on young girls and women, particularly those who do not have the support of their parents in terms of guidance as they grow up. Soon, I hope to build a safe haven where these girls can come for help and assistance, including, but not limited to, their emotional well-being and educational issues,” said Mophuting.
