WATCH: Brackendowns house burns down to the ground

Firefighters managed to save the Lapa and the double garage after a four-bedroom house caught fire on Saturday.

On the evening of September 17, Disaster Emergency Management Services (DEMS) responded to a house fire call in Hennie Alberts, Brackendowns.

Upon their arrival, with at least four fire engines on scene, the house was found to be well alight.

“There were no entrapments or injuries, and we did fire compaction and connected from our engines. On the scene the owner was treated for smoke inhalation,” explained William Ntladi of DEMS.

According to Ntladi, the fire allegedly started from the kitchen and spread to other parts of the four-bedroom house.

He said they managed to save the Lapa and the double garage.

“At least 20 firefighters responded to the call, those from Thokoza station and Zonkizizwe. The house burnt down completely,” he said.

Also at the scene were local SAPS and local security agencies.
