Young leaders take responsibility to help the community

Time To Care wants to establish and support youth clubs in partnering schools to to develop them.

NPO Time To Care (TTC) has partnered with Horizon International High School to help the community of the South with charitable distributions.

Banele Simelane, a facilitator of youth activities at TTC said they have various youth clubs in different schools and one of them is at Horizon International High School.

“We want to thank the outgoing top six of the Time To Care Youth Club at Horizon International High School, acknowledging and appreciating them for their dedication towards building their community for the past two years. As the top six of the youth club they have overseen many charitable distributions in their immediate community of Turffontein and surrounding areas including various drives to children’s homes,” he said.

Time to Care’s main aim is to provide humanitarian aid relief to the most deserving people and communities in South Africa and the SADC region.

Its initiatives have varied from assisting the underprivileged, destitute and poverty-stricken members of the society with food parcels and meat distribution to water projects. TTC is also providing for the supplies and caring needs for orphan children to educational and scholarship needs for deserving learners and students. They care for the sick and elderly with needs and necessities and also aid communities through development.

As an organisation, TTC is inspired by the belief and ideals that it is its duty and responsibility to help those in need, by supporting deserving families in the communities. This philosophy is encapsulated in the TTC motto which is: ‘So we may help one another’.

Leaders in their own right

When the Southern COURIER visited Horizon International High School to meet the top six, it emerged that these learners who are in Grade 12 are really leaders in their own right.

Their president Lonwabo Rayi said they have been doing this out of their good hearts. They do events like Easter holiday drive, soup kitchen and donating clothes to the less fortunate.

Another member, Molepo Mahlangu said, “When this started it was about giving back, however, this year we also concentrated on our members, the things they go through in life. We also donate to orphanages and we donated stationery to Park Senior Primary School,” he said.

They also mentioned that the learners and teachers contribute towards this course and urge the community to get involved in donating anything from food to clothes so that the coming generation can continue with this legacy.
