Stepping Stone Hospice celebrates Memorial Day

Hospices around the world will celebrate palliative care on October 9's World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, showing the world how vital it is.

It also attempts to show that everyone must have access to such care no matter where they live, who they love, what their age or their background.

Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services in New Market Park, Alberton, is known for its ongoing efforts in supporting palliative care and that it should be included in countries’ plans and budgets.

As they celebrate their annual Memorial Day on October 10, a day after World Hospice Day, they will once again allow families to remember and honour their loved ones.

As per the tradition, families are invited to bring along a small photo, letter and/or token of their loved ones. These will be put inside a memory capsule and placed in their beautiful Garden of Remembrance.

“We are so grateful that with the continued support of our communities, we have been able to bring palliative care to Alberton and offer these services to those facing the devastating effects of a life-limiting illness.

“We must never stop in our efforts to broaden the horizons so that every person will have not just access, but also the means to afford palliative care,” said Tersia Burger, CEO at Stepping Stone Hospice.
