8 arrested, 6 vehicles recovered

Johannesburg Flying Squad members arrested eight suspects for different crimes in different areas in Johannesburg and recovered six vehicles from October 23 to 26.

Among the eight suspects arrested, two suspects were arrested for murder, one for possession of a suspected hijacked vehicle, one for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and four for possession of drugs.

From the six vehicles recovered, the following five were recovered stolen: a black Jeep Wrangler, grey Renault Sandero, both with Lesotho registration plates, white Toyota Hilux, white Toyota Fortuner and a grey Mercedes Benz, and one white Toyota Hilux which was hijacked from the owner.

Johannesburg Flying Squad communications officer Raymond Sambo said investigations continue in all cases.
“Working with the community led to these recoveries. SAPS appreciates the public for their contribution. It should also be noted that for any information regarding the vehicles, people may contact the relevant detective, quoting the relevant case number.

“All eight suspects appeared in different magistrate’s courts to face their respective charges,” he said.
