Mondeor CPF patroller shot in Ridgeway, two suspects arrested

Last night, August 15, CPF members from Mondeor Sector 2A responded to a house robbery that took place in Janse Street, Ridgeway.

“A patroller came across the three suspects on a siding between the N12 motorway and houses on Brietta Street. He came under fire and was shot by one of the suspects. He was airlifted to Milpark Hospital and is in a stable condition.”

“A massive search for the suspects was launched. One suspect was found hiding out at a nearby building site. This suspect also sustained three gunshot wounds and was found in possession of an illegal firearm. He received medical treatment and is under police guard at the hospital,” said Mondeor CPF chairman, Mike Fontes.

A second suspect was also found and arrested in recent possession of items stolen in the house robbery.

“We believe the trio have been responsible for other house and street robberies in the Ridgeway and Mondeor area and may be linked to other crimes.

“The Mondeor CPF executive extends its gratitude to all role players that assisted in stabilising our patroller and the successful arrest of two suspects – Mondeor SAPS, Mondeor CPF, JMPD, Ridgeway Neighbourhood Watch, SA Rangers Security, SAPS K9 unit, SOS Protecsure and Fox Security,” he said.

“We wish our patroller a speedy, full, and easy recovery and call on SAPS to ensure a successful investigation and conviction of all three house robbers,” added Mike Fontes.
