LISTEN: Up-and-coming artist release Afro high-tech house music single

Mathaba blends genres together to make an Afro futuristic sound, taking inspiration from Afro house, electronica and techno to help shape his music.

The Covid-19 pandemic led Alberton North artist Karabo Mathaba to release an Afro high-tech house music single on June 24.

Mathaba, colloquially known as KVBBZ, an Afro innovative producer and DJ, released a song titled Fevah.
This is after he was nominated and eventually made it to Top 10 finalists for DJ of the Year award at the 011 City Awards on June 6.

His single has since received a stunning response from online blogs and Spotify overseers. He told the RECORD he is ready to bring his new fans on his Afro-futuristic journey.

Mathaba blends genres together to make an Afro-futuristic sound, taking inspiration from Afro-house, electronica and techno to help shape his music.

“My aim to create Fevah was sparked by the rapid spread of the coronavirus. It was also because of the recent Black Lives Matter protests, which inspired me to make a song with a message that promotes unity,” he said.

Different elements

He said his song has a melodic experience packed with a message of hope and positivity which is appropriate during these trying times.

Fevah is an uplifting Afro future house song with soft keys, dynamic synths, future bass and African percussion. It is also complemented by an impressive kick topped with lyrics that say as long as we stay together, we can make it through whatever comes our way,” said Mathaba.

Mathaba believes everyone is suffering in one form or another and that the song will encourage them.

“I want this song to make people feel far from pain even if it is for a mere four minutes. We all should close our eyes to our favourite song and let it take us to a place filled with emotion and vibrant energy,” he said.

Where to

The future for Mathaba beyond the pandemic is to touch more lives through his music and by starting conversations on gender-based violence.

The emerging DJ released the song on all leading digital streaming platforms, such as Spotify, iTunes, Beatport, and YouTube.
