Man shot and killed in Forest Hill

The victim refused to give them the phone and they shot him and ran away.

At about 5.45 pm on June 7 members of Booysens SAPS were busy patrolling in Forest Hill when a community member came running up to them and stopped them.

The SAPS members were informed of a person who had been shot while sitting in his vehicle with a friend. When the SAPS arrived at the address, it was informed by the friend that they were sitting in the vehicle while the dead person was phoning a friend in the house.

They were approached by two unknown men who demanded the phone of the dead person. The victim refused to give them the phone and they shot him and ran away.

On numerous occasions, the management of Booysens SAPS has warned the community about sitting in parked vehicles on pavements and on driveways to chat with each other. This leaves you vulnerable for hijacking.

The station management is again warning you, the community, not to sit in a parked car. Rather go into the premises and chat over a cup of tea or even a nice cold drink, instead of sitting in your car.

“Please note that it is important that we all stand together and fight crime. Please be aware of your surrounding at all times,” said Booysens SAPS spokesperson Capt Lorraine van Emmerik.
