A 45-YEAR-OLD man was arrested by Mondeor police for perjury on November 30 in Mondeor.
According to Nokulunga Dube, Mondeor SAPS communication officer, the suspect reported said he was followed from the bank by a white Toyota Fortuner.
“The suspect further alleged that while opening the gate at his home, three male suspects pointed a firearm at him and took him into the house and robbed him,” said Dube.
The Mondeor SAPS investigated the matter and in their findings they realised the suspect opened a false case, so he was charged with perjury.
Mondeor SAPS is appealing to the members of the public not to open false cases.
“Police are committed to fighting crime and keeping the communities safe. People who open false cases will face the consequences,” said Dube.
