Gauteng lights up this festive season as the Garden of Lights returns to Emperors Palace

Over the years, the Garden of Lights has celebrated the festive season with over 1.4 million visitors who come to enjoy a fantastic range of family-friendly activities.

The return of the Garden of Lights – one of Gauteng’s biggest festive season events – promises to offer even more fun for the whole family, featuring a winter wonderland, light extravaganza and Yuletide adventure, all rolled into one. The event will set Gauteng skies alight in the picturesque gardens of the five-star Peermont D’oreale Grande hotel at Emperors Palace from November 29 to January 5.

“Over the years, the Garden of Lights has celebrated the festive season with over 1.4 million visitors who come to enjoy a fantastic range of family-friendly activities. This year promises to be even better as we continue the tradition of bringing countless families together at this very special festive season celebration,” says Clive Tavener, general manager at Emperors Palace. “In keeping with the spirit of giving, visitors to the Garden of Lights will be delighted to know that proceeds from the R25 entrance fee will be donated to Reach for a Dream, the Peermont Children’s Fund, the Peermont Education Trust as well as 10 charities supported by our employees.”

This year’s edition of the Garden of Lights will see Santa Claus spreading cheer far and wide, with opportunities for the whole family to capture a memorable moment with jolly old St Nick. Other whimsical characters include the Christmas Elves, Mr Snowman, the Enchanted Princess, the Festive Fairy and the Candyman. There will also be loads of sweets, treats and toys available at the Candyland stall for the children. Wander through the magical Enchanted Garden and be transported to a whimsical wonderland of festive cheer. Be sure to make a stop at the Mystic Castle and Magic Sweet Shop before heading for the North Pole and peeking into Santa’s Workshop to see the elves tinkering on presents for Santa’s list. The fun doesn’t end there – families can also enjoy all their favourite rides at the funfair, including the big Ferris wheel, and so much more!

Tickets to the Garden of Lights are R25 per person or R100 for a family of five. Children under the age of two years enter for free. Bookings are essential and can be made by contacting the Emperors Palace Box Office on 011 928 1213/1937 or by visiting www.emperorspalace.com or www.tixsa.com
