We recently caught up with comedian James Mahlokwane, aka Chomi Ya Jeso, and spoke about comedy, being chased down the street half-naked, family and everything in between.

The father of one, who is a journalist by day and a comedian by night, was recently crowned Best New Comer in this year’s Comics’ Choice Awards.

Speaking to him about his rise to fame, the Limpopo-born comedian said he is quite humbled by the amount of love he is receiving from the industry. In our latest episode of #YoundAndUpcoming, we talk about how he managed to escape being chased in his underwear in the early hours of the morning and where his stage name Chomi Ya Jeso comes from?

Chomi Ya Jeso admits that it hasn’t always been the easiest journey and after multiple tries in the industry, his videos finally caught the attention of well-known comedians such as Mashabela and Salesman, and he hasn’t looked back since.

“It’s a feeling that I cannot describe. I’d rather do this than do anything else,” said Chomi

He recently signed to a management team that aims to take his brand to bigger heights.
