Increase in house robberies in the Mondeor policing area

Residents are urged to know all emergency numbers and to get to know their neighbours.

MONDEOR SAPS policing area has been experiencing an increase of house breaking and theft, with the most targeted areas being Liefde en Vrede, Alan Manor, Alveda Park and Mondeor.

According to SAPS, most house breakings are committed during the day and mostly on a Wednesday.

Mondeor police have put measures in place to prevent these crimes and are appealing to the community to help them limit the opportunity for these crimes and make themselves a harder target for such crimes by implementing awareness at their homes.

Home owners are still leaving their valuable goods lying around during the night, such as bicycles and garden tools, as well as leaving stepladders against walls, making it easy for criminals to access the property.

Mondeor SAPS appeals to the community to report any suspicious activities in their surroundings and are encouraged to join community patroller groups and CPF groups linked to the Station Operational Command Centre for a quicker response.

Residents are urged to know all emergency numbers; their neighbours in order to build a relationship of mutual trust and support and are urged to not leave the gate, garage or front and back doors open. When employing someone, always check their previous employment references.
