City calls on residents to participate in the upcoming IDP public meetings

It is very important for the residents to attend the IDP consultation meetings in their regions.

THE City of Johannesburg is calling upon residents to participate in the upcoming Integrated Development Plan (IDP) consultation meetings in their regions.

It will be holding IDP cluster meetings in all seven regions of the City from the end of October until the beginning of December 2018.

The IDP cluster meetings will give members of the community an opportunity to engage with the City’s leadership on service delivery issues and get the feedback on infrastructure developments and service delivery plans for wards.

The IDP is a process through which municipalities prepare a strategic development plan, which extends over a five-year period. It includes the planning, budgeting, resource allocation and decision-making processes within the municipality.

It is very important for the residents to attend the IDP consultation meetings in their regions to ensure their voices are heard and that the final budget reflects their needs.

The IDP process is one of the most powerful tools which communities can use to influence the direction they want their municipality to take and to influence the services delivery imperatives which they think must be prioritised by the City. It is also a platform which enables residents an opportunity to hold the executive accountable for their actions or inaction.

For Ward 23, 54, 55, 56, 57, 124 and 125 the meeting will be on November 7 from 6pm to 9pm at South Rand Recreational Centre in South Hills. Lijeng Mbuli can be contacted on 083 763 0235.

Also, for Ward 119, the meeting will be on December 1 from 9am to 1pm at Walter Sisulu Square Multi-Purpose Hall in Kliptown. Phumzile Tsambo can be contacted on 082 467 9247 for more information.
