Don’t interact with criminals, rather call police

SAPS request citizens not to engage with criminals and rather reach out to police officers.

ALBERTON SAPS would like to warn citizens against co-operating with criminals.

A case was brought to the Alberton SAPS where a community member was victimised by criminals after being hijacked. The victim had a call from a stranger telling him that he must put a sum of money into the stranger’s bank account. The stranger promised that the stolen car will be brought back when the money was paid over.

“I am appealing to our community not to fall into these traps,” said Captain Manare Ramotshela of the Alberton SAPS. “It is the task of the police to investigate, find the culprits and return the property to the rightful owners.

“The police have special members that are trained to deal with these incidents. If someone is victimising you speak to a SAPS member at the Alberton Police Station,” he said.
