The Bag Lady

One thing I don't like is being conned! Keep a lookout folks for fake bank notes, especially R200 notes.

A busy week and can you believe we are in the month of August! I don’t want to dampen your spirits but Christmas is only 20 weeks away. Better start saving!

It’s fake

I acquired a few R200 notes recently and not being a suspicious person never noticed one (or maybe even more) was fake. I handed it to Clayton at the Cake Away to pay for a cake I’d ordered and he phoned me, quite embarrassed to inform me of the fake note. Now I’m left wondering whether the others were also fake and who I may have innocently passed them onto. I’m damn mad! Two hundred rand may not be much to some, but I can ill afford to lose that money. Oh well, now something else to be suspicious of, living in crime-ridden SA!

Fancy a cuppa

Last week I popped into Janiques Coffee Shop (used to be Rona’s) in Rifle Range Garden Centre. Owned by Joan and Jan Venter, the coffee shop has undergone a refurbishment and is looking very nice. Open Mondays from 8am to 12 noon and the rest of the week 8am to 3.30pm you’ll be able to enjoy tasty breakfasts, delicious lunches, decadent cakes and desserts, as well as milkshakes, teas and coffees.

What I really liked is nearly everything is homemade and portions are plentiful. The Sunday lunch buffet sounds good with three types of meat, roast potatoes, rice and veggies. Just like granny used to make.

“I’d like to invite Rona’s customers back to enjoy some delicious food,” said Joan. Pensioners are also well looked after with discounts.

Janiques caters for small birthday parties, kitchen teas and baby showers as well as small office meetings. Phone 011 683 4660 and ask for Joan.

Bouquet of the Week

Southern Plumbing, “You are a lifesaver,” said Pan Bekink. Pam’s bathroom was under water and the guys came out and fixed everything up. “Thank you so much,” added Pam.

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop (and check those bank notes).
