How to find your life’s purpose

The purpose of life is not just to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honourable, to be compassionate and to make some difference that you have lived and lived well.

“To begin to think with purpose is to enter the ranks of those who only recognise failure as one of the pathways to attainment.” – James Allen

The purpose of life is not just to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honourable, to be compassionate and to make some difference that you have lived and lived well.

One of the most common questions I get from people I meet as well as from social media channels is: “Veli, how do I find my life’s purpose?”

“I think people get confused about finding your purpose with waiting for something to drop in their lap and then pursue it. I don’t quite agree with that philosophy. I do believe that we were all born to do something but waiting for it is not the way to go. I think the real question shouldn’t be, ‘how do I find my purpose?’ but rather ‘how do I invest and spend my time on something that’s important?’ These steps will help you answer this question:

1. What do I love to do that when I do it, I forget about time and even forget that I’m hungry? If you don’t know what it is, you haven’t noticed or tried enough things in life.

2. What am I good at? What do get complimented on? This indicates your natural talent. This is what people will, oh, you just so natural. Oh, I wonder how you do that, you make it look so easy. Now that’s your talent.

These two steps are very important in discovering what you need to dedicate your entire doing. As you do this, you will evolve in life and find even more things that are related to your purpose. In my coaching sessions, I unpack these further and help you become a better version of yourself.
