Working women supporting each other

“This has been another great evening where women get together and enjoy themselves,” said Toni Mackrell, co-ordinator of Woman@Work.

AT the recent Woman@Work event which was held at the Butterfly Hall, Rietvlei Zoo Farm, guest speaker Tandi Potgieter spoke to the guests saying how important it is for women to support each other.

“We are here to nurture and help each other and it’s never been a better time to be a woman,” said Tandi.

She went on to say, “We have to believe to achieve and we must love ourselves as we are. Celebrate your health, talents and strength. We all feel insecure at times and we have to learn to focus on what we love about ourselves.”

She added women need to focus on the positive aspects of their lives and then they will see how their lives will transform.

“A year ago I decided to quit my job and everyone thought I was crazy. Even me! I took two months off and then began Empowering You SA. Within two months I became a social media boffin. I think it’s important as a woman to do one a thing a day that scares you. Our biggest fear is failure and we shouldn’t be afraid to fail.

“Richard Branson says he has a five-second rule which can change a life: ‘Yes, I can – before your brain says no I can’t’.

“There’s a world of opportunity out there and we should all set examples for our daughters.”

The charity which was supported for the evening was Cause4Paws, with founder Catherine Rollinson coming along to talk about the non-profit animal welfare organisation.

After dinner was served, ladies who attended the event had a chance to browse the display tables.

“This has been another great evening where women get together and enjoy themselves,” said Toni Mackrell, co-ordinator of Woman@Work.
