Retirement Village visit reveals that Queenshaven is world class

Manny de Freitas said that he noticed how clean, orderly and well maintained the retirement village is.

MANNY de Freitas visited Queenshaven Retirement Village and accompanying him was the local councillor for Ward 57, Faeeza Chame. The manager of Queenshaven, Johan Pretorius hosted both public representatives.

“I believe it is important that I undertake visits regularly to various organisations in the South,” said de Freitas. He further explained that the visit included a walkabout to all the various types of accommodation available at Queenshaven where they interacted with its residents.

“We visited the frail care section as well as the assisted living and independent living sections,” described de Freitas.

Manny de Freitas said he noticed how clean, orderly and well maintained the retirement village is. This is reflected in the residents themselves who are happy and are clearly well looked after where all their needs are accommodated. Residents are kept busy with various activities such as indoor carpet bowls, art activities and gardening.

He said he has recommended that Clr Chame request the housing committee of council, of which she is a member, to visit Queenshaven as a study tour to observe for themselves how such city-owned facilities should be managed.

“The city can learn a lot from Queenshaven on how to run their facilities, maintaining world-class standards. I am proud that such a marvelous facility exists in the South,” expounded de Freitas.
