Cape Town needs our help

Calling on the South to come together and drop off water in support of this cause.

PLEASE open your heart and donate water for the people in Cape Town and surrounding areas who are experiencing severe water scarcity. People have contacted the newspaper from overseas and are willing to donate water to Cape Town; if they can do it, then so can we for our own country.

Ward 23

Ward 23 councillor Sarah Wissler has started a project with Perfect Water in Glenvista, who will be delivering the bottles to Gift of the Givers. The water will be taken to Panorama Flea Market and will be distributed from there. An additional charity that Ward 23 is collecting for is Water for Paws, which is distributing to Animal NGOs in the Cape, and their water is not required to be sealed. Tap water in bottles is also welcome. Contact 011 682 2222.

Schools challenged

A special thank you goes to Anne Burger, the principal of Brackenhurst Primary. She has started a ‘Water Wednesdays’ initiative at the school whereby children are urged to bring 5-litre bottles of water on Wednesdays for the month of February, and in turn they get to wear civvies. Schools in Ward 23 are being challenged to do the same. Schools should contact councillor Sarah Wissler directly.

Businesses

Thus far, Oasis Water is selling 5-litre bottles of water for R12, and The Water King is selling theirs for R10, as part of a Cape Town initiative. Contact Raj on 011 432 1984 or 082 850 1283.

RE/MAX All Stars in conjunction with Relyant Express Services and Cargo Barn Logistics will be transporting the water down to Cape Town.

HELP: Howard Matheson (Panorama Flea Market), Ward 23 councillor Sarah Wissler and Raj Naidoo (The Water King).

Transport
