Budding artists receive awards
This year the art exhibition was convened by Annastella Papageorgiou, who was assisted by Heather Tutton, Gill Callan and Bev Phillips.
LEARNERS from schools in the South attended an arts awards ceremony at The Glen Shopping Centre on Friday evening, November 3.
A number of schools were invited but only eight schools participated, namely: Covenant College Primary, Grace Trinity School for Girls, Meredale Primary, Winchester Ridge Primary, Townsview Primary, Aloe Ridge Primary, Robertsham Primary and Mondeor Primary.
This year the art exhibition was convened by Annastella Papageorgiou, who was assisted by Heather Tutton, Gill Callan and Bev Phillips.
Prizes were sponsored by The Glen Shopping Centre (printing of certificates and hosting of awards ceremony), PNA The Glen (vouchers and goody-bags), Wimpy The Glen (vouchers), Spur The Glen (vouchers) and Miss Earth South Africa (charcoal pencils).
The exhibition was adjudicated by Paula De Oliviera, who believes in encouraging the visual arts as a form of expression that everyone can relate to, and Gina Leite, an artist with many years’ experience in the visual arts field.
Gold award winners
Gold awards were received by: Lyla Bergman, Khethelo Mazibuko, Tareena Singh, Phegello Mabotsa, Tapiwa Chataika, Caleb Dube, Mia Davidson, Ronewa Maphala, Brooklyn Fisher, Reo Nare, Jade Swan, Kaylee White, Xiavayivayi Shambane, Unathi Kwetsane, Khaye Mukhadakhamu, Jaden Balraj, Humza Ali, Jamie Paul, Xavier Mbumba, Thando Ramoshai, Jared Borman, Willow Swartz and Lerato Mokalapa.
