Pioneering STEM programmes

Pioneer hopes to build on its existing commitment to focus on 21st-century skills by launching innovative programmes in the crucial fields of STEM.

THROUGH the Kilimanjaro 4 The Kids (K4TK) initiative, Nova, 13 Pioneer teachers and staff (some from Ormonde) will climb Mt. Kilimanjaro this October to try to raise R1.25 million to launch innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives for their students.

Pioneer hopes to build on its existing commitment to focus on 21st-century skills by launching innovative programmes in the crucial fields of STEM. Among the 13 Nova Pioneer staff members who will attempt to climb Africa’s highest mountain as part of the initiative is Nova Pioneer CEO Chinezi Chijioke.

“Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro symbolises the heights to which Nova Pioneer is committed to supporting our students to ascend. I also love the messaging it sends to our students around High Expectations, which is one of Nova Pioneer’s six culture principles,” explained Chijioke.

Nova Pioneer’s STEM vision is to launch innovative spaces where students and teachers can gather to invent, collaborate, and learn – providing hands-on learning experiences and building STEM-related skills that will empower ‘Novaneers’ to shape the future. Funds raised through K4TK will help activate this vision by investing in curriculum/ equipment, teacher training, and student opportunities.

“It’s all about creating an environment and providing the support that enables young minds to develop their natural sense of innovation. We believe this exciting journey our teachers and staff are embarking on will meaningfully advance the education of our students,” said Chijioke.

Nova Pioneer’s vision is to equip young Africans with the 21st-century skills they need to succeed. Those who want to learn more or contribute to Kilimanjaro 4 The Kids can do so on Nova Pioneer’s fundraising page: www.tinyurl.com/novapioneer-k4tk
