Blame it on the Boogie

Get ready to Boogie at Gold Reef City’s Barnyard Theatre for the 70’s party of the century.

JOIN a star-studded cast of talented musicians as they bring you music from an era underscored by platform shoes, spandex, crazy hairstyles and most importantly, some brilliant music for the 70s party of the century.

Blame it on the Boogie will be showing until August 20 and is a celebration of disco, funk, rock and soul music, featuring a groovy playlist of music by the Bee Gees, ABBA, The Village People, Earth Wind and Fire, KC and the Sunshine Band, Kool and The Gang and many more.

Blame it on the Boogie features a talented ten-piece cast including four vocalists, two dancers and a rocking four-piece band that will not only get you into the groove, but also get your body moving! This amazing cast is the culmination and epitome of multiple decades of hard work, talent and dedication and features the likes of Connie Friedmann (keyboard player), who has been performing in the Barnyard Theatre for more than a decade. She enjoys working with the cream of the crop of musicians who have graced The Barnyard’s stages all over South Africa.

Guitarist Jason Guile is also a musical director and vocalist for the Barnyard Theatre, and his love for music was born at the age of three when he started playing classical violin. Connie and Jason are accompanied by Vocalist JP Moggee, who started his professional singing career in 2003 when he joined the award-winning boyband HI-5. In 2007, he joined the Barnyard family and has been the lead male vocalist in multiple shows.

Blame it on the Boogie also features the tremendous talent of dancers Anzel van Zyl and Keenan Du Plessis, as well as vocalists Stephanie Braxton, Riyaan Cornelius and Janine Cupido. Michael Ramasimong is on percussion and Romeo Moalusi on bass.

So grab your family and friends, book your spot, put on your boogie shoes and get ready to be transported to a decade where you danced and partied like there was no tomorrow.
