Armed robbers target elderly couple in Glenvista and garage in Gleneagles

The robbers loaded the residents' two vehicles with the stolen goods.

ELDERLY residents of Buddack Street, Glenvista Ext 4, were robbed in their home by five men armed with handguns and a semi-automatic weapon, on March 8.

The robbers stole various items and loaded these into the residents’ two vehicles. According to the Glenvista Policing Forum, no one was injured during the traumatic incident, which lasted for about half an hour.

On March 9, at about 22:30, the Total garage in Lois Street, Gleneagles, was robbed by five armed men. Cigarettes, cellphones and cash was stolen.

The Glenvista Policing Forum stated that an alert patroller was able to observe the details of the probable pick-up vehicle and this information was given to the SAPS.

The Moffat View police spokesperson, Constable Rebecca Bila, confirmed that a case of house robbery was opened following the robbery in Buddack Street.

“We are investigating this incident and I can also confirm that a case of business robbery was opened after the robbery at the Total garage,” she said.
