More than donating blood

The awards were for the donors who have donated from 25 units to over 300 units of blood.

BLOOD donors were honoured at the Egoli East Donor for Life Awards on Saturday, March 16, at Back of the Moon, Gold Reef City.

BREAKTHROUGH: Mathilda van Tonder (left) has donated 150 units. With her is SANBS donor relations practitioner Kamantha Pillay.

The awards were for the donors who have donated from 25 units to over 300 units of blood.

RECIPIENTS: The Steyn family. Charles and Roxanne thanked everyone who donated blood, as it saved their son, Denver Taylor.

Meredale resident Martin McIntyre (72) has donated 304 units of blood over 22 years.

MOMENTOUS: Nadinè Thesner donated 25 units of blood.

“I like to donate blood. It keeps me healthy and I encourage people to do so as it saves lives. One unit of blood can save three lives, so keep donating,” he said.

SANBS STAFF: Belinda Radebe, Betty Mabaso (Egoli East collections manager) and Thandi Dire.

Donor relations practitioner from SANBS Kamantha Pillay thanked all donors who attended the event and congratulated them on achieving their milestones.

MILESTONE: Martin McIntyre from Meredale has donated 304 units of blood.
