Collecting post is a nightmare

“I went back today, Tuesday, February 7, and the grass is even longer."

RESIDENTS who collect their post from the Glenvista Extension Four mail collection point in Budack Avenue, Glenvista, say the state of the grounds where their postboxes are is disgusting.

“When I went to collect my mail last week, the grass and weeds were knee-high. We pay nearly R400 a year to have a postbox and, to be honest, I keep putting off going to check for post because of the state of the place,” said a Glenvista resident.

The CHRONICLE contacted Richard Naidoo, post office area manager, on January 25, who said: “There will be teams going out next week to cut back the grass and weeds.”

“I went back today, Tuesday, February 7, and this unfortunately hasn’t happened. The grass is even longer. The same thing happened last year and after the CHRONICLE put an article in the newspaper about the overgrown mess, it was addressed by real estate company Pam Golding.

“What message is the post office sending out? If we don’t pay for our postboxes on time, we have to pay an extra amount. I’m sick of poor service,” another resident added.
