Overcome your wardrobe fatigue

Getting ready can be brought to a grinding halt when you realise that everything in your wardrobe looks tatty and old.

“Your clothes are an expression of yourself – the way you dress is usually linked to the way you feel – and there is nothing worse than your worn clothes contradicting the confident persona you want to show the world,” says Shakil Ahmad, the brand manager of Personal Touch.
The way your clothes look tends to change over time; the colours fade, the shape changes and the size might feel a little snugger than before – and this has nothing to do with the chocolate you ate at lunch.
“How you care for your clothes definitely plays a role in the garment’s lifespan, and treating them a little better by following five easy steps can make all the difference,” says Ahmad.
He offers a few handy tips:
1. Wash your clothes inside out – by turning your clothes inside out you are letting the side that people do not see experience most of the damage, especially if you are washing an item with sequins and beads.
2. Wash your clothes in cold water – this will extend the life of your clothes with regards to colour and shape, and your clothes are also less likely to shrink when washed in cold water.
3. Choose the perfect fabric conditioner – using the correct detergents to wash your clothes with will definitely lengthen their life.
4. Avoid the tumble dryer – when drying your clothes try to avoid putting them in the tumble dryer as much as possible as the hot air can shrink your clothes. Air drying your clothes is a better option, but try to avoid too much sunlight as this can fade the colour.
5. Zips and buttons – must be done up when putting your clothes in the washing machine. By zipping up your zip, and buttoning up your buttons you are avoiding any snags that might occur in the washing machine, and buttons loosening over time.
