Flower power at spring show
This year there were 231 entries with some stunning floral art displays, cut flowers, plants, herbs, jams, conserves and chutneys.
JOHANNESBURG South Garden Club held its annual Spring Flower Show on Saturday, September 17, and although the weather certainly didn’t feel too much like spring, the show was a blooming success.
This year there were 231 entries with some stunning floral art displays, cut flowers, plants, herbs, jams, conserves and chutneys.
Results of the section winners: Anne Helmrich (section A – 34 points), Jenny Richardson (section B – 22 points), Anne Helmrich (section C – 30 points), Leonarda Jones (section D – 15 points), Jenny Richardson (section E – eight points), Leonarda Jones (section F – 15 points), Jenny Richardson (section G – 19 points), Rob Jones (section I – 21 points), Rob Jones (section J – 28 points), Rina Cridlan (section K – 11 points) and Leonarda Jones (section L – 35 points).
Most points overall, Jenny Richardson – 1st 176 points, Anne Helmrich – 2nd 104 points and Leonarda Jones – 3rd 91 points.
Winner of the Best on Show was Rob Winter with his clematis.
Flower lovers came to see what the garden club members were exhibiting and after browsing the entries, enjoyed refreshments in the tea garden.
