If residents do not abide by the water restrictions they will be fined and will be added to their municipal bill.
The City Of Joburg has introduced a water restriction tariff on domestic users effective from September 2016.
The water levels in the integrated Vaal Dam have dropped below the 60% threshold. Level 2 Water Restrictions have been in place since November 2015.
Joburg Water will throttle the system in the evenings from 8pm to 4am in areas where demand is high. Throttling system means reducing the flow of water to the reservoirs.
