Mondeor SAPS is investigating a case of house robbery

THE MONDEOR SAPS is currently investigating a case of house robbery that took place on Friday, July 29, in Glenvista.

The robbery occurred at around 16:45.

According to the Mondeor SAPS communications officer, Const Elizabeth Mnguni, it is alleged that two intruders broke the security gate and door with a pick axe.

“The complainant was threatened with a pick axe and the robbers took electric appliances,” said Mnguni.

On the Glenvista Community Policing Forum Facebook page, the incident was reported as follows on Friday, July 29:

“Residential armed robbery, Rodene Street, Glenvista Extension 3, Friday evening. A family was attacked at home by a group of men at about 17:40, that forced their way into the home with a pick axe. The mother jumped over a wall and escaped to a neighbour while the son was held at gunpoint.

“The robbers made off with a TV and other electronics. It was first reported that this was a hostage situation and Johannesburg Flying Squad was on scene with much police backup. Our Victim Support Unit was on scene and rendered trauma counselling.”
