New manager at Queenshaven

''First off I’d like to establish a training centre for the residents. Many of them come to live here and feel they have no purpose in life anymore. From a different angle I’d like to keep their brains active and give them a new purpose,” said Johan.

QUEENSHAVEN has a new manager, Johan Pretorius (58) who is manager of Johannesburg Coronation Foundation (Queenshaven and Hillcrest).

He began his new job four months ago, after previously working with the Ekurhuleni Metro as a regional manager of a department.

“When I retired from the metro I decided I didn’t want to stay at home and began two businesses, but I wasn’t fulfilled and found I was just going through the motions every day,” he explained.

”That is when I applied for the manager’s position at Queenshaven. It’s definitely a calling being here and I’d really like to bring about a few changes.

Johan grew up in Bloemfontein and has lived in Alberante, Alberton, for 28 years.

He is married to Sonja and they have four children: two daughters, Vicki (26) and Bianca (22), and two sons, Marko (32) and Johan Jnr (18), and one granddaughter, Chloe, who is 18 months old.

“Whenever I’ve spoken to anyone outside Queenshaven, they always have something good to say about the retirement village and are always willing to assist in any way they can. I’m really excited to be here and to be a part of the team,” added Johan.
