The Bag Lady

What's The Bag Lady been up to? Save with Checkers and enjoy Nu Leaf's second birthday celebration.

At last it looks like there may be light at the end of the tunnel where my sinuses are concerned, thanks to Rikki Jones from the Enchanted Forest at Comaro Crossing Shopping Centre. After nine weeks of hell, Rikki saw my Bag Lady column and contacted me with regards of what to do and buy.

Rikki advised me to get a Nettie-Pot, which I had absolutely no idea what it was. I went along to DisChem and was told they had sold out but had Sinu-Pots which are the same, only plastic instead of ceramic. I bought one and have been using it two or three times daily since and it does seem to be helping. I’m not 100 per cent yet but last week I bought some natural products to help with my blocked sinus problem and my immune system. Hopefully I’ll be fighting fit soon!

For the life of me I can’t believe how medical doctors don’t sometimes prescribe natural remedies in conjunction with antibiotics, especially where sinusitis is concerned. If I’d begun using the Sinu-Pot weeks ago I’m certain I would have been good by now.

Eating in with Checkers

Woolworths began the Eat In For Four concept for R100 a few years ago. It’s gone up now but it’s still the same, you can buy a meal, dessert and a bottle of wine for a certain amount. Well, new on the block, Checkers is running the same thing for R150. Enjoy ready to cook chicken fillets in a sauce (600/850g each), roasted root vegetables with glace (800g) plus a bottle of Porcupine Ridge Sauvignon Blanc (750ml) all for only R150.

Celebrating Nu Leaf’s second birthday

It seems like only yesterday Daksha Kalyan opened her health shop, Nu Leaf, in Glenanda and on July 14 the shop will have been open for two years.

Since then the shop has grown and moved next door to larger premises and also sells more health products, as well as a larger range of sugar free sweets and chocolates and gluten free products.

“We’ve built up regular customers and extended our opening hours to accommodate them,” said Daksha.

Nu Leaf sells natural cosmetics, super foods, aromatherapy oils and tinctures, Solgar and Medford products as well as a large range of herbal teas.

On the premises for your convenience is a homeopath, chiropractor, a reflexologist and a bio-chemist.

On Saturday, August 6, Nu leaf will celebrate its birthday with an open day and there will be a talk at 11:00 by the bio-chemist Amisha Nagar on Epigenetics. Receive a free live blood analysis and enter the raffle with a chance to win a Solgar hamper, valued at over R1 000. All products will be less 10 per cent and there will also be food tastings. Daksha recommends you RSVP on 011 432 0186 if you are interested in attending. There will extra parking available opposite the shop on Vorster Avenue, Glenanda.

Nu Leaf is open Monday to Friday 08:30 to 18:00, Saturdays 08:30 to 14:00 and every first Sunday of the month from 09:00 to 13:00.

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop!
